Madame Mattie Silks

Patti studied and researched a famous Denver Madame, Mattie Silks, for one of her Colorado history courses at CU-Denver. For the Summer Soltice Red Light District Bar Tour in Lodo she played the part of Mattie Silks. It was an interesting night and we met some characters, but she played her role flawlessly and was the hit of the evening!

To begin my birthday, Andrew and I met our Williams Family - Josh, Sara, Cameron and Eli - at Daylight Donuts. When we arrived, they completely surprised me with a donut "cupcake," lit candle and a Happy Birthday serenade. It was just the sweetest and made me feel so special. I just love this family and am so incredibly thankful to have them in our lives! ♥

I'm still trying to master my new Android phone and all of its capabilities, but today I made the most amazing discovery! I was hunting around on the Android Market for a RSS feed reader because I was struggling to get the pre-installed reader to update my feeds. (By the way, I should mention that I LOVE (♥♥♥) being able to access my favorite blogs on my phone!) After a little searching, I landed upon feedly. I quickly downloaded, sychronized and BAM! I am now in blog heaven with feedly and I love the format. Yay, for feedly. If you need a reader, check it out!

This Summer's Trilogy

Last summer, I was hooked on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. This summer, I have a new obsession. The Hunger Games. It is actually a Young Adult series, so it's not nearly as graphic and disturbing as the Girl series. It is just as captivating, though! Today I spent 2.5 hours at the pool devouring the pages on this book. Seriously. Read it! (And Catching Fire and Mockingjay, too!)

Playdate

We spent a glorious almost-summer day with our CBW and EJW. The improptu backyard playdate with all of the kids' new water toys was absolutely perfect! We heart our Williams family! ♥

A couple of weeks ago, we went to Fight Night at Tara and John's. After that, Jas was hooked! When the next fight rolled around, we decided to have people over for the pay per view event. I was highly impressed with my girls, Tara & Spotts! These two know their stuff and are quite the MMA experts! It was a great night with wonderful friends!

It's difficult to comprehend that our little baby boy is two. Two(!!!!). Now it is as if he is officially a toddler. While it feels like the past two years have flown by at break-neck speed, it is difficult to remember what life was like before he blessed our lives. At two, he is all boy! Running. Throwing. Hitting. Yelling. Yet, he is also snuggles and giggles and pure sweetness. We adore you, dear Andrew James. You complete our family! ♥

U2!

Sena and I scored when Dad and Kiki had two extra tickets to the U2 concert at Invesco. I must admit that I'm not really a U2 fan, but I don't dislike them either. Sort of indifferent. Before the concert, I had to rack my brain to try to think of a U2 song... I did come up with one - "Beautiful Day." That being said. This was truly one of the most memorable nights of my life. The stage and audience were enormous. The energy was palpable. And Bono is quite possibly the most engaging performer. Evah. Even on the 5th level, he had me completely captivated. And I realized I did know quite a few U2 songs. It was an unforgettable night and I was able to experience it with three of my favorite people in the world. And consider me an official U2 fan now! ♥

After breakfast in bed complete with Daylight donuts (cake with white frosting and sprinkles - delish!) and chocolate milk, we packed up for a day at the Denver Botanic Gardens. While the gardens are not quite in full bloom this time of year, the bulbs are out in all their beautiful glory. Especially my favorite, the tulips. We devoured a tasty picnic lunch and explored the gardens with Dad, Kiki and Honey. The kids especially loved racing around the grassy hill area. It was truly a perfect day! To complete the day, Jas took us to Sweet Tomatoes. My fave and quite possibly his least favorite.

Early Wednesday morning we headed out to DIA for our morning flight to San Diego for Christmas. It was Andrew's first time on an airplane and his 19 month "birthday." Since we were on Southwest, we were able to score an extra seat for Andrew who was a lap child. The kids were perfect. They slept, played together and ate snacks. It was a perfect flight!

We headed to Flatiron Crossing with our Williams family, Josh, Sara (and B-dub in the oven) and Cameron, to visit Santa. Olivia and Cameron kept each other entertained and the Bubs was a champ chilling in his stroller taking in all the sights and sounds. The kids ate snacks, read books, sang songs, counted trees and played "I Spy." Liv was a little shy with Santa and Drew was like a little deer in the headlights. However, to mama, it was a success! No tears!

My Broadway Baby

Our sweet Olivia made her dancing debut in a Broadway Baby number. Her first recital might also have been her last. She didn't love taking dance and it was a struggle to convince her to go each week. However, it was a teachable moment for us and a learning opportunity for her. We had many discussions about trying new activities, following through on a commitment and not letting others down. She made it to the recital and was pretty adorable in her costume. She loves the stage, but I think her route might be singing and/or acting, not dancing... But, you never know... She is, afterall, only 4...

My beautiful Olivia, I am very proud of you for finishing what you started. You are such a cute little dancer and you did a fabulous job. Here's to starting gymnastics in the new year!

Craft Time with Grandma!

Grandma with her girl, Olivia, putting together a foam Gingerbread House. The glue gun operated by Grandma was necessary to get the structure put together, but Liv helped with the rest of the house by carefully placing each of the sparkling red and green shingles, candies, gingerbread man and Christmas tree. The final product was pretty cute and Liv enjoyed the craft time with Grandma!

Deck the Halls

(Although it pains my heart, we purchased a fake tree this year. The driving factor was that we will be in California for Christmas. I must admit, it's still pretty cute and all I need is some pine scent for the house to make it feel a little more real. The sleeping Bubs missed decorating, but Liv loved putting the tree together, hanging the ornaments and some brother-free alone time with Mommy and Daddy.)

Gigi made Olivia and Andrew this fun and festive Advent Calendar. She brought it over on Thanksgiving, so it was a looooooooooooong week for Olivia and waiting for December 1st to arrive was so difficult. But finally the day came and she was so excited for her little treat. Thank you, Gigi, for such a wonderful addition to our Christmas festivities. Liv is so excited to discover what is in the stocking for Day 2!

Light the Lights

On the Friday after Thanksgiving, Denver is illuminated... 16th Street Mall, Union Station and the City & County Building. To kick off the Christmas holiday season, we joined the festivities in Civic Center Park to watch the lighting of the City & County Building. It was a beautiful evening which included Santa, carolers and a LED light display to Christmas music. The highlight of the evening for Liv was her heart wand glow stick. Andrew wanted one, too!
